Lotte Department Store's Spring Visual Theme is "AI-Painted Urban Spring"
Ongoing Until the 28th of Next Month
Lotte Department Store unveiled its 2024 spring season visual images using artificial intelligence (AI) on the 12th.
Lotte Department Store is staging the theme of the AI image "Wonder Dreams, Spring Discovered in the Heart of the City" both inside and outside the department store. This theme will be available to customers until the 28th of next month. This is the first time Lotte Department Store has showcased a seasonal visual using generative AI. Collaborating with an AI artist who uses AI software that generates images from text, they added imaginative elements to realistic subjects such as the city and buses in everyday life to express the beauty on the boundary between reality and unreality.
The reason for using an AI program to create the spring season visuals is to provide customers with a new visual experience. In the existing distribution industry, AI technology has mainly been used in areas such as personalized product recommendation services based on big data, customer consultations through chatbots, and logistics transportation platforms. Lotte Department Store chose generative AI, which allows limitless expression, as a means to deliver a message of hope where imagination becomes reality to people exhausted by daily life amid a heavy social atmosphere.
The collaborating AI artist is Noel Vandijke from the Netherlands. Noel Vandijke is a Dutch artist specializing in abstract painting and works using AI, with numerous awards in the AI art field. Through this AI project with Lotte Department Store, he aimed to show the journey between human creativity and artificial intelligence on the subtle boundary between dreams and reality.
