US Biden Classified Document Leak Investigation Completed: "Special Prosecutor Sees Low Likelihood of Indictment"
"No inappropriate behavior found"
U.S. CBS News and others reported on the 7th (local time) that no inappropriate conduct was found in the investigation of the classified document leak involving U.S. President Joe Biden.
U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland revealed this in a letter sent to the House and Senate Judiciary Committees on the same day. Multiple sources told CBS News that Special Counsel Robert Hur, who is investigating the case, is unlikely to indict anyone in connection with this incident.
Special Counsel Hur submitted the final investigation report to Attorney General Garland, the White House, and President Biden's personal lawyer, and plans to deliver it to Congress as well. Garland added that the report would be made public as much as possible in accordance with legal requirements and Department of Justice policies.

The case first came to light in November 2022, just before the midterm elections, when classified documents were reported to have been found in President Biden's office at the think tank Penn Biden Center, dating back to his time as vice president. Additional classified documents were later discovered during a search of President Biden's residence in Wilmington. The Department of Justice appointed former prosecutor Robert Hur as special counsel to investigate the case in January of last year.
