Acting Minister of Justice Shim Woo-jung instructed the Supreme Prosecutors' Office on the 8th to improve the investigation and handling procedures of medical accident cases so that essential medical personnel can focus on medical care.
Acting Minister Shim ordered the active application of the Emergency Medical Service Act provisions that allow for sentence reduction in medical accidents occurring without gross negligence during emergency medical acts and emergency measures.
She also urged the active utilization of the mediation and arbitration system of the specialized Medical Dispute Mediation and Arbitration Agency to reach more reasonable conclusions, and to prevent unnecessary face-to-face investigations such as demanding attendance without sufficient prior preparation.
