Mokpo City Former Public Officials Participate in Traditional Market Shopping Event for Lunar New Year
Park Hong-ryul, the mayor of Mokpo City, visited traditional markets ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday to check on the holiday economy and encourage merchants.
According to the city on the 7th, Mayor Park began his visits on the 6th with the Comprehensive Fishery Market and continued to visit traditional markets such as Hang-dong Market, Jungang Food Market, Jayu Market, Dongbu Market, Shin Jungang Market, and Cheongho Market to encourage merchants and listen to their concerns.

Mayor Park said, “I hope that the local economy, which has been sluggish due to the economic downturn, can be revitalized through the Lunar New Year, the biggest ethnic holiday.” He added, “We will do our best not to neglect efforts to revitalize traditional markets, including promoting consumption at traditional markets and boosting sales of local love gift certificates.”
In addition, all public officials of Mokpo City visited seven traditional markets in person during the Lunar New Year holiday to promote them and held shopping events by department according to schedule. City officials actively participated in revitalizing the local economy by promoting seafood consumption and practicing shopping for agricultural and livestock products.
Meanwhile, the Jungang Food Market, Comprehensive Fishery Market, Dongbu Market, and Jayu Market, selected for the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries public project, are conducting an event that refunds up to 30% of the purchase amount in Onnuri gift certificates when purchasing domestic seafood.
