Boseong-gun Holds Marine Fisheries Business Briefing Session
Strengthening Communication to Revitalize Marine and Fisheries Sector
On the 5th, Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, announced that it held the ‘2024 Marine Fisheries Project Briefing and Fishermen Education’ for about 200 fisheries workers at the 4th-floor conference room of Boseong-gun Office.
Boseong-gun explained 21 projects worth 400 billion KRW focused on marine ecology and development, as well as 21 fisheries subsidy projects worth 3.7 billion KRW that directly support fishermen, using various materials to help attendees better understand.
The key projects include ▲ Yulpo Port Fishing Village New Vitality Promotion Project (30 billion KRW) ▲ Boseong Beolgyo Mudflat Restoration Project (7 billion KRW) ▲ Fishing Village New Deal 300 Projects (2019~2023) at 6 locations (about 50 billion KRW) ▲ Yeojaman Clean Fishing Ground Regeneration Project (5 billion KRW), among others.
In particular, unlike previous sessions, this briefing invited Choi Gap-jun, a senior researcher at the Marine Fisheries Policy Technology Institute and former head of the Fisheries Resources Division of Jeollanam-do, who gave a lecture titled ‘The Future Direction of Boseong Fisheries,’ which received great response from the fishermen.
Through this, plans for the growth of the Namhaean coastal marine leisure tourism hub complex in Boseong-gun, measures to strengthen marine leisure and marine ecology sectors, and changes in marine fisheries-related systems were shared.
Kim Cheol-woo, the governor of Boseong-gun, said, “The marine fisheries projects that have continued since the 7th local government administration have opened the era of 500 billion KRW, thanks to all the fishermen who have worked together. I hope today’s briefing was a beneficial time for all fishermen.”
Meanwhile, Boseong-gun plans to promptly promote subsidy projects within the first half of the year after deliberation by the Fisheries Adjustment Committee in March and apply to Jeollanam-do for the 2025 national and provincial project budget.
