Osan-si Conducts Special Environmental Pollution Crackdown During Lunar New Year Holiday
Intensive Monitoring of 134 Sites Including Fine Dust Emission Facilities
Osan City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 6th that it will conduct special crackdowns to block illegal emissions of environmental pollutants such as air pollution and wastewater discharge during the Lunar New Year holiday period.
This activity, which will be carried out until the 15th, will be promoted in phases focusing on environmental pollution prevention and monitoring activities until the 15th.
First, until the 8th, the day before the holiday, prior publicity and guidance activities will be carried out for 134 special monitoring targets, including workplaces with large emissions of fine dust and companies within industrial complexes, while operating 10 inspection teams.
During the holiday period from the 9th to the 12th, an "Environmental Pollution Accident Response Situation Room" will be established to prepare a response system for emergency situations. Afterwards, from the 13th to the 15th, technical support will also be provided to environmentally vulnerable companies.
Earlier, Osan City inspected 362 workplaces within the jurisdiction last year, detecting 66 abnormal operation cases and issuing administrative measures such as improvement orders and suspension of use. In particular, 8 cases with serious violations were reported to judicial authorities.
