Yangcheon-gu Supports Replacement of 150 Old Signboards... Up to 2 Million Won
Change from Bulk Selection to Individual Replacement for Maintenance Pilot Zones
10% Installation Cost Self-Payment Principle... Applications Accepted from February 1
Replacement Companies Limited to Local Outdoor Advertising Operators to Promote 'Sangsaeng'
Yangcheon-gu (District Mayor Lee Gi-jae) is promoting the ‘Small Business Signboard Improvement Support Project,’ which provides up to 2 million KRW in signboard replacement costs to 150 small business-operated stores to alleviate the economic burden on small-scale self-employed individuals and create a pleasant urban landscape.
Previously, the district office selected pilot maintenance zones by building or section and carried out signboard replacement projects collectively. However, this year, the support scope has been expanded, allowing small-scale and small business owners to apply for subsidies to improve old signboards regardless of the area. Through this, customized signboard replacements reflecting the characteristics of each business and local features are expected to contribute not only to revitalizing local commercial districts but also to establishing a clean urban landscape.
Applicants must be small-scale or small business owners operating in Yangcheon-gu as of the announcement date (February 1), with a total of 150 stores supported within the year. Each store can receive support of up to 2 million KRW for one of their own advertisements. It is a principle that 10% of the signboard improvement installation cost is self-funded, and the signboard replacement work companies are limited to local outdoor advertising businesses (up to 10 locations per company) to promote win-win cooperation between small business owners and advertising companies.
Small-scale and small business owners wishing to improve their signboards can apply from February 1 by visiting the Construction Management Division of the district office with the required documents such as the application form, advertising execution plan, and small business confirmation certificate, or by sending an email to the person in charge. However, entertainment establishments, franchise directly managed stores, and building name signboards are excluded from support. For more details, please refer to the announcement board on the district office website.
The district plans to select the final support recipients through monthly reviews by the Outdoor Advertising Deliberation Committee and notify them individually.
Since starting the signboard improvement project in 2009, the district has maintained a total of 398 buildings and 6,356 illegal signboards along Sinwol-ro, Mokdong-ro, Garogongwon-ro, Gonghang-daero, Omok-ro?from Sinjeong Intersection passing by the Southern District Court to Mokdong Station?as well as the area around Mokdong Jungangbuk-ro 16-gil last year.
