'Resident Participation' Tree Composting, Pruning, and Removal of Undergrowth

Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that every year on the fourth Friday of March and October, it designates the day as ‘Boseong Tree Love Day’ and promotes a resident-participatory tree care project.

‘Boseong Tree Love Day’ is a day to carry out resident-participatory tree care activities targeting trees planted in residential areas and parks, as well as trees planted along village entrances through the Boseong600 project.

On this day, a total of 97 tree care experts, including gardening specialists, will be deployed by village, and under the technical guidance of these experts, village residents will directly carry out tasks such as fertilizing, tree shape control, removal and replanting of dead trees, removal of unwanted shrubs, and watering.

Applications for the resident-participatory tree care project sites will be accepted through the Eup/Myeon Administrative Welfare Centers (town offices) Industry Teams until February 8.

Boseong-gun plans to start the village-specific projects after February 23 by first informing residents of the basic work guidelines to create a healthy growth environment for the trees.

Kim Cheol-woo, Governor of Boseong-gun, said, “Through the ‘Visiting Dialogue with Residents,’ many residents gave their opinions on the management of trees planted in residential areas and through the Boseong600 project,” adding, “We plan to designate ‘Boseong Tree Love Day’ and promote the ‘resident-participatory tree care’ project in connection with the Boseong600 project.”

Meanwhile, the ‘Boseong600’ project was the only local government nationwide to receive the Prime Minister’s Commendation for Regional Industry Promotion in 2021, and its value and effectiveness have been recognized, spreading to 22 cities and counties in Jeollanam-do under the name ‘Clean Jeonnam Best Village Making’ project since 2021.
