LIG Nex1 Donates to UAE-Deployed 'Ark Unit'... First Case by Domestic Defense Company
Donation Event Held Locally to Express Gratitude to Soldiers
LIG Nex1 donated funds to overseas deployed troops.
A global defense company that produces and exports weapon systems held an event to express gratitude and sincerity to the deployed soldiers on site.
On the 23rd, LIG Nex1 met directly with the commander of the UAE Military Training Cooperation Group (Army Colonel Kang Kyung-hoon) and officials to convey messages of thanks and support, and announced on the 24th that it had delivered donations to improve the welfare of the soldiers. This is the first case of a defense industry company donating funds to the Ark Unit.
The donation event took place at the UAE robotics and unmanned systems exhibition ‘UMEX 2024 (Unmanned Systems Exhibition and Conference),’ where several domestic defense companies participated to enhance the status of K-defense.
Established in 2011, the Ark Unit is the first unit of the Republic of Korea Armed Forces deployed to the UAE for military cooperation purposes. Currently, the 22nd rotation is carrying out its mission under the leadership of Commander Kang Kyung-hoon. The Ark Unit contributes to strengthening cooperation and friendship between the two countries by conducting intensive joint training with the UAE military in desert areas, including tactical training, high-altitude parachuting, counter-terrorism operations, and maritime infiltration operations.
The soldiers of the Ark Unit have become a symbol of trust between Korea and the UAE, playing a significant role in helping domestic companies, including those in the defense industry, enter the Middle Eastern market.
