Choi Seo-won Returns 'Tablet PC' to Jung Yoo-ra... "Now It Begins"
The tablet PC, which was used as decisive evidence in the investigation of the Park Geun-hye administration's state affairs manipulation, has been returned to Choi Seo-won (formerly Choi Soon-sil, 68).
According to the legal community on the 18th, Choi's daughter, Jung Yoo-ra (28), received the tablet PC from the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office the day before. This comes three weeks after the court ruling that the tablet PC must be returned to Choi was finalized.
This tablet PC was obtained and reported by JTBC in 2016 from Choi's office in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and was voluntarily submitted to investigative agencies. The prosecution used it as evidence in related trials and has kept it sealed and stored.
Choi is also currently pursuing a return lawsuit against the state for another tablet PC submitted by her niece Jang Si-ho to the Park Young-soo special investigation team.
Earlier, the Civil Appeal Division 8-2 of the Seoul Central District Court (Presiding Judges Lee Won-jung, Kim Yang-hoon, Yoon Woong-gi) ruled in favor of the plaintiff, Choi, in the movable property delivery lawsuit against the state, as in the first trial, in August last year. The defendant, the Republic of Korea, appealed, but the Supreme Court dismissed the appeal without oral argument at the end of last year, finalizing the ruling.
Choi has claimed that she did not use this tablet PC and has stated that she will conduct her own 'verification.'
In a statement submitted to the appellate court, Choi said, "The special investigation team (on state affairs manipulation) has consistently asserted that I used this tablet PC, but it does not even have document functions," and demanded, "Please return the tablet PC so that the truth about how national confidential documents were inserted into the tablet PC and who manipulated it can be revealed."
