Boasting Korea's Leading Tea Production Regions, Boseong and Hadong Counties Join Hands

Collaborating for Mutual Growth and Joint Response to Globalize the Tea Industry

Boseong County announced on the 17th that Boseong County in Jeollanam-do and Hadong County in Gyeongsangnam-do signed a sisterhood agreement for the development of the tea industry at a small conference room on the 2nd floor of the Boseong County Office.

About 30 people attended the signing ceremony, including Kim Cheol-woo, Governor of Boseong County, Ha Seung-cheol, Governor of Hadong County, members of the county councils of both local governments, representatives of the Green Tea Research Institute, representatives of tea producers' associations, representatives of the tea industry and tea culture, and the president of the sports association.

Boseong County and Hadong County, the undisputed representatives of Korea's tea industry, agreed through this agreement to promote the development of the tea industry and the revival of tea culture, and to work together for joint development and mutual friendship enhancement through friendly exchanges in various fields.

They also agreed to promote exchanges between organizations in various fields, including cultural, artistic, and sports events as well as local festivals, exchange excellent administrative policies, operate direct markets for local specialties and agricultural products, and expand exchanges in various fields such as rural experience programs.

Furthermore, both institutions shared sisterly affection by mutually exchanging premium green tea made by local masters, excellent local specialties such as Boseong kiwi and tomatoes, as well as Hadong strawberries and freshwater clams.

Ha Seung-cheol, Governor of Hadong County, said, “Today's agreement is significant in that the two local governments leading Korea's tea industry have joined hands to establish joint strategies for the development and revival of the tea industry.”

Kim Cheol-woo, Governor of Boseong County, said, “Today, Boseong County and Hadong County formed a tea garden alliance (Dawon Gyeol-ui) with the meaning of ‘Peach Garden Oath (Dowoen Gyeol-ui).’ We will respect each other's history and traditions and expand human and material exchanges to achieve mutual growth in all fields including tea culture and tea industry development, administration, economy, culture, arts, sports, and private organizations.”

Meanwhile, the sisterhood promotion between Boseong County and Hadong County originated from the 23rd Namhaean Namjungwon Development Council regular meeting held at the KAI Aircraft Development Center in Sacheon City last November.

Also, in May of last year, Boseong County and Hadong County each hosted the ‘World Tea Expo,’ widely promoting the status and excellence of Korean tea and sharing best practices through mutual visits.
