Seoul Grand Park Completes Botanical Garden Renovation... Reopens After 3 Months
Seoul Grand Park announced on the 16th that it has resumed operations from the 10th after completing a three-month maintenance of its exhibition greenhouse.
Opened in 1985, the Seoul Grand Park Botanical Garden stands 25 meters tall and covers an area of 2,825㎡. It retains the form of a modern greenhouse built with steel frames and multi-layered glass, which is rarely seen nowadays, giving it architectural and cultural historical value. It consists of the Desert Pavilion, Tropical Pavilion, Tropical Pavilion 2, Temperate Forest Pavilion, and Carnivorous Plant Pavilion, exhibiting a total of 562 species. During the maintenance period, Seoul Grand Park removed corrosion from major structural parts and repainted areas where the paint had peeled off.
Along with the reopening, various winter special programs such as 'Making a Wish Tree' and plant interpretation have been prepared. Starting from the 17th until the 7th of next month, the program 'Welcoming the New Year with Wishes at the Botanical Garden' will be held every Wednesday and Friday at 2:30 PM, where participants can make decorations themselves.
The regular interpretation program 'Botanical Garden Earth Travel' also resumed on the 15th. It operates twice on weekdays (10:30 AM and 2:30 PM, 50-minute interpretation sessions) and anyone can participate by applying on-site without a reservation.
Citizens who wish to quietly tour alone can use the plant interpretation guide 'Solo Botanical Garden Tour' via QR codes. QR code signboards with recorded plant interpretations are installed in front of major plants.
