Gwangyang Baegunsan Gorosoe, Full-Scale Shipment Starts from the 20th
Strengthening Hygiene Management, Making Every Effort to Secure Consumer Trust
Gwangyang City in Jeollanam-do announced that it will begin harvesting and selling Baegunsan Gorosoe sap starting from the 20th.
This year, the prices for Gorosoe sap are 70,000 KRW for 30 bottles of 500㎖, 70,000 KRW for 12 bottles of 1.5ℓ, and 70,000 KRW for 4 bottles of 4.5ℓ. Purchases are available through the Gwangyang Baegunsan Gorosoe Mineral Water Agricultural Cooperative and local Nonghyup branches in each town and township.
Registered as the 16th geographical indication by the Korea Forest Service, Gwangyang Baegunsan Gorosoe sap is harvested from Gorosoe trees in the pristine Baegunsan area.
Known as "Golisoo" for its bone health benefits, Gorosoe sap is rich in minerals, magnesium, and calcium, and its osteoporosis improvement effects were proven through experiments by the National Institute of Forest Science in 2009.
The city conducted pre-inspections of hygiene conditions including harvesting hoses, collection containers, and purification facilities to ensure high-quality Gorosoe sap production and enhance consumer trust. Only sap that has undergone purification processes is distributed and sold in the market.
Additionally, to diversify consumer purchasing options, small packaging (500㎖) containers have been introduced, and QR codes containing purification dates and other information are embedded on the containers as part of various efforts to secure customer trust.
Lee Gang-seong, Director of the Forest Income Division, stated, “We will strive to supply high-quality Gorosoe sap to consumers while preserving the forest ecological environment,” and added, “With the full-scale production and sale of Gorosoe sap, an increase in income for forestry workers is also expected.”
