Goheung Yuja Festival Selected as a Representative Festival of Jeollanam-do

Highly Praised for Innovative Space Design and Various Programs Utilizing Yuja

Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gong Yeong-min) announced that the Goheung Yuja Festival, a representative festival of Goheung, has been selected as the '2024 Jeollanam-do Representative Festival.'

The Goheung Yuja Festival is not a uniform event planned by an agency, but the result of efforts by public officials to directly plan and organize the festival to secure its identity and professionalism. The evaluation team noted that the theme of Yuja, a specialty product of Goheung, was clear, and the festival's identity was well expressed when visitors entered the festival grounds.

In addition, about 500 local Yuja-producing farms directly participated in the Yuja C Parade, creating a resident-participatory festival where residents organized and operated the event. Especially, by utilizing local residents' Yuja orchards and living spaces as festival venues, the theme "Intoxicated by the scent of Yuja, dyed in golden light" was well realized along a nighttime walking path illuminated with lights and yellow ripening Yuja.

Furthermore, a drone show and fireworks performance promoting Goheung as a space aviation hub city were held, filling the festival grounds around the main stage with visitors without any empty seats. The on-site evaluation team highly praised the festival, saying, "A festival enjoyed by visitors is truly a meaningful local festival."

A Goheung-gun official stated, "The Goheung Yuja Festival could be selected as a Jeollanam-do representative festival thanks to the active participation and support of the residents." He added, "This year as well, we will present diverse content so that residents and tourists can fully enjoy the joy of the festival, escaping from their relentless daily lives."
