According to the city, Yongin General Industrial Complex initially planned to build an exhibition hall with a total floor area of 30 pyeong in the historical park as a public contribution through donation, but Mayor Lee Sang-il of Yongin suggested, "Please consider building better facilities for citizens' cultural activities," leading to the decision to expand the size of the exhibition hall.
The exhibition hall will feature artifacts excavated during the industrial complex development process, as well as the marker stone of Samak School site, and the monument commemorating three generations of independence struggles led by General Oh In-su, a representative anti-Japanese independence family of Yongin.
In addition, the city plans to provide a space where local cultural artists can hold various exhibitions or engage in cultural and performance activities.
The city plans to finalize detailed plans and the size of the exhibition hall after the cultural heritage excavation survey is completed, considering the quantity of important artifacts and exhibition artworks.
Currently, cultural heritage trial excavations are underway at 13 sites within the Yongin Semiconductor Cluster industrial complex. Artifacts excavated so far include 96 stone coffin tombs of charcoal kilns from the Joseon Dynasty.
