Gwangjin-gu Operates Free Fluoride Application Program for Children's Teeth
Effective for cavity prevention in residents aged 6 to 15

Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is operating a free fluoride application program to prevent cavities for children and adolescents aged 6 to 15.
Fluoride application involves directly applying fluoride to the teeth to form a protective layer, which strengthens the teeth and effectively prevents cavities. It is especially an effective method for preventing cavities in children and adolescents under 15, a period when baby teeth fall out and permanent teeth grow in.
Accordingly, the district promotes the free fluoride application program annually, striving to improve oral health for children and adolescents vulnerable to cavities.
The program targets children and adolescents aged 6 to 15 residing in Gwangjin-gu. After making an individual reservation, they can visit the Gwangjin-gu Public Health Center. Upon visit, they can receive a free oral examination along with the fluoride application.
Starting in March, the Gwangjin-gu Public Health Center plans to support group fluoride applications for 6- to 7-year-old children at local kindergartens and daycare centers. Institutions wishing to apply should submit an official document in February and visit the health center on the reserved date.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “We are promoting various cavity prevention projects along with the free fluoride application program to help children develop proper oral care habits. As this is an important period for preserving healthy teeth, we hope parents show great interest and participation for their children's oral health.”
