2024 Seongbuk-gu New Year's Meeting Held, Pledging a 'Happy Seongbuk'
On the 10th, the 2024 Seongbuk-gu New Year's Meeting Conveying New Year Hopes Held at Seongbuk-gu Community Center Auditorium Over 1,000 Attendees Including Seongbuk Residents, Public Officials, Local National Assembly Members, and City/District Councilors... Seongbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) held the 2024 Seongbuk-gu New Year's Greeting Meeting on the 10th at the Seongbuk-gu Community Center Auditorium.
About 1,000 people, including Seongbuk-gu residents, Mayor Lee Seung-ro, local members of the National Assembly, and city and district council members, attended the event to enjoy commemorative performances and exchange New Year's greetings.
Before the event, Mayor Lee Seung-ro personally greeted the residents who came to the New Year's meeting and wished for a healthy and happy Gapjin year.
The main program proceeded in the order of the mayor's New Year's address, New Year's greetings from key guests, viewing of the 2024 wish video featuring Seongbuk-gu residents from various sectors, and congratulatory performances prepared by the Dream Orchestra Seongbuk and the Seongbuk-gu Women's Choir.
In his New Year's address, Mayor Lee Seung-ro stated, “2024 marks the second year of the 8th term of the local government focused on ‘field-centered, livelihood-centered, and happily together Seongbuk,’ a turning point and an important period to prepare for the next 100 years of the future.” He expressed his ambition, saying, “We will uphold basics and principles in all areas of local administration and create a happily together Seongbuk that each resident can feel through more communication and better policies.”
He continued, “We will find answers through continuous communication at the residents' living sites and incorporate them into local administration,” and promised, “We will closely monitor childcare, care, and education without blind spots so that parents and children, the elderly and children can all be safe and happy, and establish infrastructure to enjoy cultural life anywhere, making Seongbuk a place where daily life is enriched.”
Furthermore, he pledged, “We will accelerate redevelopment and reconstruction to achieve balanced development without regional disparities,” and “Through various youth policies and support, we will create ‘Youth City Seongbuk’ that takes responsibility for the present and nurtures the future of youth.” He declared his determination, “We will devote all our capabilities to revitalizing the local economy so that residents can feel the effects.” Finally, he presented the future vision of Seongbuk, saying, “We will realize carbon neutrality and introduce the 4th industrial revolution technologies such as artificial intelligence, robots, and the Internet of Things into administrative services to create a ‘sustainable development city Seongbuk.’”
In the following 2024 wish video, wishes for the New Year from various Seongbuk-gu residents, including environmental officers, elementary school teachers, university students, and merchants, were heard. Warm greetings from Seongbuk-gu ambassadors such as actors Jeon Won-joo, Kim Mi-hwa, and Jung Bo-seok were also featured in congratulatory video messages.
Additionally, splendid congratulatory performances by the Dream Orchestra Seongbuk and the Seongbuk-gu Women's Choir united those gathered in the Seongbuk-gu Community Center Auditorium. In particular, the Seongbuk-gu Women's Choir received great applause from the audience by performing the song “Come to Me (Subtitle: The Four Seasons of Seongbuk),” which captures the beautiful four seasons of Seongbuk, in a choral arrangement.
