Gwangju Buk-gu Implements Local Shopping District Revitalization Project
Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, is launching customized management support reflecting the characteristics of commercial districts within local shopping streets.
According to the district on the 10th, four shopping streets in Buk-gu were selected in the ‘2024 Traditional Market and Shopping Street Revitalization Support Project’ contest hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, receiving national funding.
The Traditional Market and Shopping Street Revitalization Support Project is aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of merchants by supporting various self-sustainability reinforcement measures for traditional markets, shopping streets, and alley-type shopping streets.
This contest finalized the supported areas through an evaluation by the selection review committee for local governments that submitted project applications. Buk-gu secured about 130 million KRW in national funds for four locations: Gonggu Street, Yongbong Fashion Street, Automobile Street, and Jeonnam National University Back Gate Alley-type Shopping Street.
The district plans to invest a total of about 160 million KRW this year in these four shopping streets by adding local funds to the secured national funds, supporting initiatives such as ‘Delivery Manager,’ ‘Market Manager,’ and ‘Joint Marketing.’
The support details for each shopping street are as follows: Gonggu Street will implement the Delivery Manager project to assist with parcel delivery and shipping of goods from stores located in the shopping street; Yongbong Fashion Street will carry out the Joint Marketing project supporting festivals, events, and media promotions for shopping street marketing; Automobile Street will receive support for both the Delivery Manager and Joint Marketing projects.
Additionally, Jeonnam National University Back Gate Alley-type Shopping Street will have the Market Manager project to support personnel handling general administrative tasks for the merchants’ association, along with the Joint Marketing project.
