A Clear Overview of Welfare Benefits I Receive... Gumi-si, Labeling Maintenance
Revising 'Bank Deposit Details' for 35 Types of Welfare Benefits and Allowances
Preventing Citizen Confusion, Increasing Efficiency for Responsible Officials
Gumi City in Gyeongbuk Province is revising the notation of the welfare benefit 'bank deposit statement' paid to individuals so that anyone can easily understand the details of welfare benefits and allowances, and can quickly recognize the welfare benefits they receive at a glance.
This revision of the welfare benefit notation was initiated because the deposit statements of welfare benefits paid to individuals were labeled with 'department names' and other unclear terms, making it difficult for citizens to find the responsible public official by phone, and also making it hard for the officials answering the calls to locate the person in charge of the benefits, resulting in communication difficulties.
The welfare benefits paid to individuals include 35 types from 7 departments of the city hall, such as ▲Livelihood Benefits ▲Basic Pension ▲Child Allowance ▲Childcare Allowance ▲Disability Pension, etc. The city plans to organize the deposit statement notation into six characters (e.g., '1wol Adongsudang' for January Child Allowance, '2wol Saenggye Geubyeo' for February Livelihood Benefits) so that individuals can easily understand the welfare benefits they receive, and will also promote this on the city hall website.

Kang Myeongcheon, Director of the Welfare Policy Division, said, “Through this notation revision, we hope that citizens can easily check what welfare benefits they are receiving without confusion,” and added, “Furthermore, in 2024, we will gradually subdivide and build a welfare platform where anyone can easily and instantly access complex welfare information, realizing empathetic welfare that communicates with citizens.”
