Gyeonggi-do Establishes 'Investment Cooperation Bureau' to Strengthen Investment Attraction and International Cooperation
Gyeonggi Province is establishing an 'International Cooperation Bureau' to strengthen investment attraction and international exchange.
On the 9th, Gyeonggi Province announced the legislative notice of the 'Partial Amendment to the Ordinance on Administrative Organization and Staffing' containing this plan.
The International Cooperation Bureau will be composed of three divisions: the International Cooperation Policy Division, the International Economic and Trade Division, and the Investment Promotion Division, by transferring two divisions currently under the Economic Investment Office?the International Economic Cooperation Division and the Investment and Trade Division.
The head of the International Cooperation Bureau is expected to be Park Geun-gyun, the current director of the International Cooperation Division, who will continue the duties.
Earlier, on the 1st, Gyeonggi Province also created a new position of International Cooperation Special Advisor (equivalent to Grade 4 Secretary), appointing Yu Dae-jong, a former ambassador for international relations of Gyeonggi Province and a former Ministry of Foreign Affairs official.
The International Cooperation Special Advisor is the only position using the special advisor title within the provincial government, excluding the 'Chief' and 'Assistant' positions, and will assist the governor in making decisions on international cooperation policies.
With the establishment of the International Cooperation Bureau, the Lifelong Education Bureau will be abolished, and its responsibilities will be transferred to the Social Economy Bureau and the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau.
This organizational restructuring also includes the establishment of the Audit Committee and the Provincial Residents' Rights Committee, which are consensus-based administrative bodies.

The amended ordinance will be reviewed at the provincial council's extraordinary session held from the 16th to the 29th of next month.
