Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok to Travel to the U.S. from 8th to 14th... Attending CES and Exchange with Honolulu City
Incheon Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok is set to embark on a business trip to the United States to attend CES, the world's largest home appliance and IT exhibition, and to visit sister cities. On the 4th, Incheon City announced that Mayor Yoo will visit Las Vegas, Nevada, and Honolulu, Hawaii, from the 8th to the 14th for a 5-night, 7-day schedule.
First, Mayor Yoo will attend 'CES 2024' held at the Las Vegas Convention Center from the 9th to the 11th, presenting the future vision of Incheon as a 'world-class smart hub city.' Incheon is the only local government in Korea to operate the 'Incheon·Incheon Free Economic Zone Promotion Hall' in the main exhibition hall, the Convention Center North Hall. Additionally, 16 Incheon startup companies will participate in the K-Startup pavilion, which is dedicated to national and startup exhibitions.
Mayor Yoo will announce the opening of the promotion hall and visit the Incheon startup companies participating in the expo to experience their innovative products firsthand. He will also promote Incheon’s future vision and the innovative technologies of Incheon startups to the world through an interview at the 'Incheon Media Stage.' Furthermore, he plans to meet with corporate representatives from Samsung Electronics, HD Hyundai, LG Electronics, SK, and others to discuss support measures for local startups.
During the trip, Mayor Yoo will also visit Honolulu, Incheon’s sister city and the first arrival point for Korean immigrants in the Americas, to revisit 120 years of immigration history. He plans to meet consecutively with Josh Green, Governor of Hawaii, and Rick Blangiardi, Mayor of Honolulu, to discuss cooperation in culture and tourism.
He will also attend the unveiling ceremony of the marker at Pier 7 of Honolulu Harbor, where Korean immigrants first set foot, as well as the unveiling ceremony of the Incheon-Honolulu sister city monument.
Previously, the first Korean immigrants departed from Jemulpo Port in Incheon in December 1902 and arrived at Honolulu Harbor, Hawaii, in January 1903. Incheon City and Honolulu City established their sister city relationship in October 2003, marking the 100th anniversary of Korean immigration to the Americas.
