Gwangju City to Continue Supporting Sangsaeng Card Discounts This Year
Monthly Integrated Limit of 500,000 KRW per Person for Check and Prepaid Cards... 7% Discount Year-Round
Full Payment Fee Support for Merchants... Additional 5% Cashback on Transportation and More
Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kang Gi-jung) will continue to support discounts on the Sangsaeng Card this year to increase sales for small business owners and prevent the outflow of local capital.
According to Gwangju City on the 3rd, the monthly discount purchase limit per person for the Gwangju Sangsaeng Card is 500,000 KRW combined for check and prepaid cards, with a 7% discount supported throughout the year.
A small business support policy that fully covers the payment fees for the Gwangju Sangsaeng Card at small and medium-sized affiliated stores with annual sales of 500 million KRW or less will also continue. Last year, about 48,000 affiliated stores benefited from this.
In particular, if there is a usage record of 200,000 KRW or more on the Sangsaeng Check Card in the previous month, an additional 5% cashback service will be provided on usage amounts in transportation (city buses, subways), supermarkets, convenience stores, and beauty and hairdressing sectors.
Despite government budget cuts, Gwangju City has allocated the entire budget from the city funds to support small business owners and benefit citizens, and the financial burden is expected to be somewhat eased with the inclusion of national funds.
Park Sun-hee, head of the Economic Policy Division, said, “The Gwangju Sangsaeng Card has served as a strong support for the low-income economy during difficult economic times,” and added, “We hope people actively use the Sangsaeng Card to help revitalize small businesses and the local economy.”
