Muan-gun, Jeong Hyun-gu Inaugurated as the 27th Deputy Governor

"I Will Devote My Full Effort to the Development of Muan-gun"

Jeonnam Muan-gun (Governor Kim San) appointed Jeong Hyun-gu as the 27th Deputy Governor on the 2nd.

According to the county on the 3rd, Deputy Governor Jeong will begin on-site administration by visiting institutions and organizations on the day of his inauguration, followed by direct visits to eup and myeon offices and major county projects starting from the 3rd to quickly grasp the current status of county affairs before officially starting his duties.

Deputy Governor Jeong Hyun-gu, originally from Damyang, Jeonnam, graduated with a master's degree in Urban and Local Administration from Korea University. He began his public service career in 1992 in Gwangyang City, was promoted to Administrative Officer in 2013, to Senior Administrative Officer in 2020, and in January 2024 was promoted to Local Deputy Director, taking office as Deputy Governor of Muan.

After entering public service, he was assigned to Jeonnam Provincial Office in 2004 and immediately transferred to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, where he served for about 16 years in key positions such as Minister’s Secretary, National Policy Planning Committee, Personnel Planning Officer, and Grant Tax and Audit Officer.

In his inaugural speech, Deputy Governor Jeong pledged, “Based on Governor Kim San’s outstanding leadership, we will promote county administration as one united body with 100,000 residents and over 800 public officials.”

He added, “Leveraging my network, experience, and know-how with government agencies, I will play a leading role in discovering core strategies for Muan’s development that exceed last year’s achievements and securing the necessary budget.”

He also emphasized, “A professional mindset that encourages communication, integrity, and consideration is necessary so that we can proactively collaborate for the development of Muan-gun.”

Finally, he expressed, “I am very pleased to be appointed Deputy Governor of Muan-gun, which has the greatest potential among the cities and counties of Jeollanam-do. I will do my best to realize Muan’s grand vision of ‘Making Muan Bigger, Raising My Life Higher’ and devote myself wholeheartedly to the development of Muan-gun.”
