Yuseonghun, Geumcheon District Mayor, "We Will Build a 'Vibrant Economic City Geumcheon'"

Yoo Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon District, said, "We will create a ‘vibrant economic city Geumcheon’ that breathes life into the lives of our residents."

In his 2024 New Year's address, Mayor Yoo stated, "We will further strengthen the economic foundation of our district, known as G-Valley, and with comprehensive support measures for improving transportation environments, businesses, and youth startups, we will become the youngest and most dynamic city in Seoul, reborn as the economic hub of Seoul."

He also pledged to create a ‘livable cultural and welfare city Geumcheon’ for all residents, from infants to the elderly.

Dear residents of Geumcheon District!

In 2024, the Year of the Blue Dragon (Gapjin Year), we will leap forward vigorously with the spirit of the soaring Azure Dragon alongside our residents. We aim to make the city valuable and our residents happy by creating ‘Geumcheon that empowers the lives of its residents.’

First, we will create a ‘vibrant economic city Geumcheon’ that breathes life into the lives of our residents. We will further strengthen the economic foundation of our district, known as G-Valley, and with comprehensive support measures for improving transportation environments, businesses, and youth startups, we will become the youngest and most dynamic city in Seoul, reborn as the economic hub of Seoul.

Second, we will create a ‘livable cultural and welfare city Geumcheon’ for all residents, from infants to the elderly. Through cultural policies utilizing our district’s unique cultural heritage, we will build Geumcheon’s historical pride. We will further expand Geumcheon’s distinctive welfare policies,

and realize true ‘welfare for the vulnerable’ by carefully supporting socially disadvantaged groups. Additionally, we will strengthen the education support system centered on public education and establish lifelong learning centers and career guidance centers to make Geumcheon an educational city where all residents can dream of the future.

Third, to make future changes even more anticipated, we will create a ‘happy city Geumcheon where people want to live.’ We will focus on improving residential environments through redevelopment, reconstruction, and construction of public parking lots, and build an urban safety network using smart technology. We will also complete long-standing resident projects such as the development of the Air Force base site, construction of a large general hospital, and the opening of the Sinansan Line.

Dear beloved residents of Geumcheon District!

This year, we will make 2024 a ‘year of leap’ that signals new development and change for Geumcheon. Geumcheon District will be your most reliable companion and partner, always close to the residents.
