A man who claimed to have dropped his watch on the person sitting next to him at a PC bang and demanded repair fees was revealed to be a habitual offender who deliberately caused the watch to fall and extorted money.
On the 30th, SBS released CCTV footage taken around 4 a.m. on the 19th of last month at a PC bang in Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi Province. The footage captured a man in his early 30s, Mr. A, sitting next to a customer who had briefly left his seat in the mostly empty PC bang during the early morning hours. Mr. A took off his watch from his wrist, placed it on the customer's clothes left on the seat, and then left.

At that moment, Mr. A reappeared and demanded, "You dropped my watch, so give me repair money." He claimed his watch was worth 200 million won. Shocked by this, the customer handed Mr. A 1 million won.
Later, feeling suspicious, the customer checked the CCTV and realized he had been deceived. A PC bang employee explained, "The victims don't know because he hides the watch. The watch fell during the process of tidying up the clothes."
It turned out that Mr. A's demands for watch repair fees were not the first time. Checking the customers who sat next to Mr. A, it was confirmed that he made the same demand to five people at this PC bang alone. Among them, one victim even transferred 5 million won to Mr. A.
One of the victims said, "I was tidying my clothes, and he pretended to have dropped the watch, saying things like 'You should be more careful.'" Another victim testified, "He said he bought it for 180 million won and even showed me the warranty. I was so flustered that I gave him the money I had at the time."

When the PC bang owner reported to the police, it was found that Mr. A had already committed similar acts at other PC bangs and reports had been filed. The police booked Mr. A on charges of fraud and extortion and requested his appearance. However, Mr. A refused to cooperate with the investigation and appeared at the PC bang again on the 28th, attempting to commit the same crime. The police are currently considering applying for an arrest warrant for Mr. A.
