This year, Gyeongcheong Stars participating youth were active in 9 cities across 7 countries: ▲Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (13 participants) ▲Manila, Philippines (13 participants) ▲Hanoi (12 participants) and Ho Chi Minh (7 participants), Vietnam ▲Taipei, Taiwan (6 participants) ▲New Delhi (6 participants) and Bengaluru (7 participants), India ▲Fukuoka, Japan (30 participants) ▲Tashkent, Uzbekistan (6 participants).
The Gyeonggi Youth Overseas Employment and Startup Opportunity Expansion project is a newly launched initiative this year aimed at providing ‘more equitable opportunities’ to youth aged 19 to 34 who wish to work or start a business overseas. It offers opportunities for career exploration through on-site experience at overseas companies and customized mentoring, helping participants develop their capabilities as global talents.
At the launch ceremony on November 7, the participating youth voted to name themselves ‘Gyeong(gi)Cheong(yeon) Stars.’ From November 16 to December 17, the program included various regional activities such as local language education, mentoring and seminars with seniors who had experience in overseas employment and startups, visits to local companies, preparation and presentation of startup projects, after which all participants safely returned home.
During the event, the youth watched videos covering the entire program, including the launch ceremony and orientation, departure scenes to each experience country, program progress filmed on-site overseas, and individual interviews with participants after the experience. They also shared outstanding graduates’ experience cases.
Kang Seong-cheon, President of the Gyeonggi Economic Science Promotion Agency, said, "The reason this program was successfully completed is because all of you were outstanding participants with passion and a spirit of challenge for a vibrant future," adding, "Your overseas experiences will be a great foundation for developing the capabilities to fulfill your roles as future global talents."
