Suwon City to Expand 'Saebit Care Project' to All Neighborhoods Next Year
The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province will expand the ‘Suwon Saebit Care’ project, which provides care services to all citizens in need, to all neighborhoods (dong) starting next year.
On the 28th, Suwon City announced that the Suwon Saebit Care project, which has been piloted in 8 neighborhoods since July 1st, will be expanded to cover all 44 neighborhoods from January 1st next year.
Suwon Saebit Care is a ‘Suwon-style integrated care project’ centered on the local community, which identifies neighbors in need of care and provides them with essential care services.
Residents who are well acquainted with the village situation, such as members of the neighborhood community security council, act as ‘Saebit Caregivers’ to identify households in crisis that need help, discover and connect local welfare resources, and provide care services.
Suwon Saebit Care offers four main care services: ▲household visits ▲accompaniment support ▲psychological counseling ▲temporary protection.
Anyone can use the services regardless of income, assets, or age. For households with income below 75% of the median income, a neighborhood care planner visits the home and, if care is deemed necessary, provides 1 million care points per person annually to cover care service costs. Households exceeding 75% of the median income can use care services at their own expense.
The Suwon Saebit Care service can be applied for by phone or visit at the neighborhood administrative welfare center’s care desk, or through the mobile citizen participation platform ‘Saebit Toktok’.
