"Iran Says 'No New Actions' in IAEA Report on Increased Low-Enriched Uranium Production"
Iran has denied the recent International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) report stating that it is increasing its production of highly enriched uranium, saying it has "not done anything new."
On the 27th (local time), Mohammad Eslami, head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, was reported by major foreign media to have said, "We have not done anything new and are following regulations while conducting our usual activities."
According to major foreign media, the IAEA recently sent a report to member states stating, "Iran, which had been reducing its production of highly enriched uranium earlier this year, has changed its policy and is increasing production again."
The IAEA claimed that since the end of last month, Iran has been increasing uranium production with enrichment levels up to 60% at the underground Fordow nuclear facility and the Natanz nuclear facility, confirming an increase of about 9 kg.

Under the 2015 Iran nuclear deal (JCPOA - Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action), which involved lifting economic sanctions on Iran in exchange for halting nuclear weapons development efforts, Iran was allowed to possess only 202.8 kg of low-enriched uranium (3.67%). However, in 2018, during the presidency of Donald Trump, the United States unilaterally withdrew from the nuclear deal and reinstated sanctions on Iran.
