Without revealing his identity, he said, "I placed it behind the signboard of Irae Church (near the community center), please use it to help underprivileged neighbors," and then hung up.
The staff found cash, a piggy bank, and a paper box containing a letter at the scene. Upon verification, the donation amounted to a total of 80,063,980 KRW in 50,000 KRW bills and coins. There were 1,600 bills of 50,000 KRW (80 million KRW), 76 coins of 500 KRW (38,000 KRW), 245 coins of 100 KRW (24,500 KRW), 12 coins of 50 KRW (600 KRW), and 88 coins of 10 KRW (880 KRW). The letter included a brief message: "Thank you for your hard work this year as well. Please help the underprivileged neighbors. Thank you."
Thus, the good deeds of the 'Faceless Angel' of Nosong-dong, Jeonju, have continued for 24 years and 25 times up to this year. The cumulative amount of donations he has delivered reaches 964,797,670 KRW. Following the angel's wishes, Jeonju City plans to use the donations to support disadvantaged groups such as child-headed households and elderly living alone in the Nosong-dong area. Song Hae-in, head of Nosong-dong, said, "We deeply thank the Faceless Angel who once again gave great love and inspiration to help those in need this year," adding, "We hope that the virtuous cycle of sharing he wished for will be realized, creating a happier society together."
Started Good Deeds in 2000, 25 Donations over 24 Years... Spreading 'Positive Influence'
Previously, in April 2000, the angel began by leaving 584,000 KRW through the hand of an elementary school student with a request to "use it for underprivileged neighbors." On December 26 of the following year, an anonymous donation of 740,000 KRW was delivered, and in 2002, piggy banks were handed over twice on Children's Day (May 5) and in December.
The amount of donations gradually increased. Each year, he left several million to tens of millions of KRW without ever revealing his name or face. Hence, he is called the 'Faceless Angel' of Jeonju. Even amid the confusion caused by COVID-19, he did not stop his good deeds. In 2021, despite difficult circumstances, the angel donated 70,094,960 KRW, and last year, he delivered 76,005,580 KRW along with a warm message to child-headed households.
