Dongdaemun-gu Secures Total Education Budget of 20 Billion Won for 2024
120 Billion KRW Education Expense Subsidy Among Top Autonomous Districts... Generous Support for Future Talent Development Including Problem-Solving Education and Admission Preparation Funds
Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) has secured a total education budget of 20 billion KRW more than this year, amounting to 12 billion KRW in education expense subsidies for 2024, and a total of 20 billion KRW in education budget, actively supporting the cultivation of future talents.
Despite difficult financial conditions, the district has allocated 12 billion KRW in education expense subsidies to improve the quality of education, continuing to provide top-level support among the 25 autonomous districts of Seoul next year as well as this year.
The education expense subsidies will be used for education that fosters problem-solving skills to proactively prepare for future changes, strengthening educational services for socially disadvantaged groups such as special education support, and creating future-oriented school spaces that nurture creativity.
In particular, the district will newly support programs such as ▲ secondary digital literacy and logical thinking enhancement programs ▲ robot competitions to improve the quality of public education. Detailed support for kindergartens, elementary, middle, and high schools will be decided through the 2024 Dongdaemun-gu Education Expense Subsidy Deliberation Committee.
In addition to the 12 billion KRW education expense subsidies, the district will provide additional budgets to alleviate the economic burden on parents and offer a more equal and high-quality educational environment, including ▲ eco-friendly school meals ▲ entrance preparation fund support ▲ free high school education. Various educational programs such as visiting career lectures and local university student learning mentoring programs will also be operated.
