Naju City Hosts 'Naju Jeongmiso Completion Commemoration Festa' Event
Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Yoon Byung-tae) announced on the 26th that it recently held a festa event at Naju Jeongmiso, which included a completion and opening ceremony, an exhibition, and performances by cultural and artistic clubs.
The remodeling of Naju Jeongmiso has been carried out from 2016 to this year as part of the urban regeneration project led by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the cultural regeneration project of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Naju City has completed the renovation of the old 'Naju Jeongmiso,' a modern cultural heritage site, and has reopened it as a complex cultural space to revitalize the local community.

After acquiring the site and conducting detailed designs for the four buildings of the Jeongmiso complex (total floor area 2,066㎡), construction began in 2019 with a total project cost of 6.75 billion KRW invested.
Having reopened after more than 100 years, Naju Jeongmiso will be utilized as a complex cultural community space for resident communities and regional economic revitalization, improvement of residents' welfare, job creation, cultural and artistic activities, and village management.
Building 1 will serve as a resident hub exchange center for activities of various resident clubs and groups, while Building 3 will be developed as a multipurpose space including a performance hall to encourage cultural and artistic activities.
Building 4 will preserve the identity of the Jeongmiso building by hosting rice-related exhibitions and an art gallery, and Building 5 will house a restaurant and a resident caf? that will serve as a profit-generating base for residents.
About 200 people attended the completion ceremony, including Mayor Yoon Byung-tae, National Assembly member Shin Jeong-hoon, City Council Chairman Lee Sang-man, local provincial and city council members, heads of urban regeneration-related organizations and social groups, and residents. The residents celebrated the opening of Jeongmiso with various cultural performances such as pungmulnori (traditional Korean percussion music), acoustic guitar, and classical vocal music.
In his commemorative speech, Mayor Yoon Byung-tae said, “Naju Jeongmiso will be a space for exchange connecting residents through culture and arts, as well as a foundation for job creation and revitalization of the village community. I sincerely thank the residents who devoted their efforts and dedication to the completion of Naju Jeongmiso for the revitalization of the old downtown area.”
