Japan "Korean Fishing Vessel Caught Operating in Its EEZ... Captain Arrested"
Japanese Fisheries Agency reportedly seized a South Korean fishing vessel for unauthorized fishing in Japan's exclusive economic zone (EEZ).
According to Kyodo News on the 24th, the South Korean fishing vessel led by Captain Kim was fishing about 220 km south of Meshima Lighthouse in Goto City, Nagasaki Prefecture, Kyushu, the previous day.
The Japanese Fisheries Agency announced that it seized the South Korean vessel on suspicion of illegal fishing and arrested Captain Kim. The vessel is approximately 44 tons (t). Kyodo News reported that Kim has not disclosed whether he admits to the charges.
