Daejeon City to Abolish 'Income Criteria' for Support of Infertility Treatment Costs Starting Next Year
Daejeon City will abolish the income criteria for eligibility in five support programs, including infertility treatment expenses, starting next year.
According to Daejeon City on the 24th, the programs for which the income criteria will be abolished are ▲ infertility couple treatment expenses ▲ high-risk pregnant women medical expenses ▲ medical expenses for premature and congenital anomaly infants ▲ congenital hearing loss screening and medical expenses ▲ support for detailed developmental examinations for infants and young children.
Until this year, these programs provided medical expense support only to households that met the income criteria. However, from next year, all households eligible for the programs will be able to receive medical expense support regardless of household income.
In particular, support for infertility couples will also abolish the existing age-based differential support criteria, allowing treatment expenses of up to 1.1 million KRW per in vitro fertilization session and 300,000 KRW per artificial insemination session. However, to receive infertility couple treatment expense support, applicants must have their address registered in Daejeon City at the time of application.
Medical expense support for congenital anomaly infants will also be extended from the previous 1 year and 4 months to up to 2 years after birth.
Applications for medical expense support, including infertility treatment expenses, can be made online through e-Health Center, Government24, or the Aimajung app. In-person applications can be submitted at the health center with jurisdiction over the applicant's address.
