BPA and Busan Regional Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office Operate the 2nd Port Safety Culture Week
Implementation of Harbor Safety Accident Prevention Resolution and Joint Safety Inspection
Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Kang Jun-seok) and Busan Regional Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office (Acting Director Gong Su-pyo) jointly operated the 2nd Port Safety Culture Week for five days from the 18th to the 22nd to promote the spread of safety culture at Busan Port.
Port Safety Culture Week is an event held based on the Port Safety Special Act enacted in August last year, marking its second occurrence following July this year.
This Port Safety Culture Week focused on the voluntary safety inspections conducted by stevedores at Busan Port, targeting 53 businesses registered for stevedoring operations within Busan Port.
Additionally, a ‘Port Safety Culture Spread Relay Safety Campaign’ was conducted jointly with port stevedores and related organizations at each pier of Busan Port (North Port, Gamcheon Port, and New Port) from the 18th to the 20th, encouraging participation from port transport workers through ▲pledges to prevent port safety accidents ▲joint port safety inspections ▲distribution of event safety promotional materials.
Um Ki-yong, Director of Disaster Safety at BPA, said, “We ask for great interest and practice so that a safety culture can be established within Busan Port with the participation of many stakeholders during Port Safety Culture Week.”
