Yongsan-gu, Nurturing Dreams at Christmas
On Wednesday the 20th at 4 PM, 130 children from Our Neighborhood Care Center participated in preparing and conducting the event at Yongsan Kkum Namu Comprehensive Town Kkum Namu Theater, creating joyful and happy memories
“Please hold a Christmas party in front of the district office yard”
Yongsan-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Hee-young) successfully completed the Christmas Dream Nurturing event on the 20th. The event was arranged following a request from children at the Our Neighborhood Care Centers who visited the district mayor’s office last August.
The Christmas Dream Nurturing event was held at the Dream Tree Theater on the 4th floor of the Yongsan Dream Tree Complex (329 Baekbeom-ro). A total of 130 children using seven Our Neighborhood Care Centers in the area, 20 care teachers, Yongsan District Mayor Park Hee-young, and district officials attended.
The event proceeded in the order of ▲ screening activity videos from each Our Neighborhood Care Center ▲ completing a large Christmas tree ▲ magic show ▲ commemorative photo session.
Children Lee Seo-jun (4th grade, Geumyang Elementary School) and Jung Joo-young (4th grade, Cheongpa Elementary School), who use the Care Centers and Dream Tree Library, served as MCs.
MC Lee Seo-jun and Kim I-el (2nd grade, Geumyang Elementary School), who uses Yongsan Branch No. 4, also won the Excellence Award in the child participation category (experience essay) of the ‘2023 Care Facility Contest’ hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
The highlight of the Christmas Dream Nurturing event was completing the large Christmas tree. Seven children representing the Our Neighborhood Care Centers and Mayor Park decorated the 3-meter tree with ornaments and lit the lights.
The following magic show lasted about an hour. After the performance, the completed Christmas tree was moved to the 1st floor of the Yongsan Dream Tree Complex so that residents visiting the facility until the end of the year could also enjoy it.
SPC Group sponsored 200 character breads for the children who came to enjoy Christmas, making the event even more festive.
Yongsan District Mayor Park Hee-young said, “I am glad to keep the promise made with the children in summer,” and added, “Since the children organized everything from planning to execution themselves, I hope they will cherish these memories for a long time.”

This event began when Mayor Park visited Our Neighborhood Care Center Branch No. 4 (160 Hyochangwon-ro) and Branch No. 6 (17 Seobinggo-ro) during summer vacation to check on elementary care sites. Children using Branches 4 and 6, invited to the district mayor’s office, suggested holding a Christmas party. The district promoted the event in conjunction with the 6th anniversary celebration of the Dream Tree Library opening.
