Ulsan City Obtains 'Smart City' Certification
Excellence in Establishing and Operating the Integrated Operations Center
Ulsan City has obtained the ‘National Intelligent City (Smart City) Certification’ from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
The Smart City Certification has been awarded by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport since 2021 through a public contest targeting local governments, in accordance with the ‘Act on the Creation and Industrial Promotion of Smart Cities’.
Smart cities are evaluated based on 53 indicators across three areas: innovation, public-private cooperation (governance) and systems, and service technology and infrastructure. Certification is granted to cities that score 70% or higher.
Ulsan City was recognized for establishing and operating the ‘Smart City Integrated Operation Center,’ which integrates the Smart City Situation Room, Disaster Safety Alert Situation Room, and 119 Comprehensive Situation Room, providing infrastructure capable of integrated response to various emergencies such as disasters, fires, safety, and crime prevention.
Additionally, Ulsan received favorable evaluations for continuously expanding various smart city services to enhance the level of urban smart services, including the Smart City Integrated Online Platform, Smart City Data Hub, Carbon Neutral Policy Support Digital Twin Online Platform, smart tourism, next-generation intelligent transportation system (C-ITS), and disaster management system, all aimed at urban management and solving urban problems.
