Gwangju Uchi Park Management Office, A Step Forward in Enhancing Animal Welfare
Agreement on Support for Funeral Procedures with 'Osu Pet Memorial Park'
The Gwangju Metropolitan City Uchi Park Management Office has taken a step forward to enhance animal welfare.
According to Gwangju City on the 21st, the day before, the Uchi Park Management Office signed a mutual business agreement with ‘Osu Pet Memorial Park,’ a public pet funeral company in Jeonbuk, to improve the welfare of zoo animals.
The signing ceremony was attended by Ji Taekyung, head of the Uchi Park Management Office, and Park Choi, CEO of Osu Pet Memorial Park, among others.
The initiative was promoted to support funeral procedures through cremation when animals born and raised in the zoo pass away, thereby enhancing the welfare of animals at Uchi Zoo.
Until now, animals in the zoo were handled by medical waste disposal or incineration upon death, but this agreement is seen as an opportunity to change the post-mortem treatment methods for animals.
It is also expected to contribute to improving public perception of zoo animals.
Meanwhile, ‘Osu Pet Memorial Park’ is the nation’s first public pet funeral hall established with government and local government budget support, and it is leading donation projects with a commitment to promoting animal welfare.
