Cheongsong-gun Selected as an 'Excellent Local Government' in 2023 Financial Analysis

Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, has been selected as an "Excellent Local Government" based on the 2023 local government financial analysis conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, which evaluated 243 local governments nationwide, and will receive special grant incentives.
The financial analysis is a representative local finance monitoring system by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety that categorizes local governments nationwide into five peer groups (special/metropolitan cities, provinces/cities/counties/districts) and analyzes the financial status and performance of local governments based on the previous year's settlement data, using 14 key financial indicators across three areas: soundness, efficiency, and planning.
Cheongsong-gun showed a consolidated fiscal balance ratio, indicating the surplus scale of integrated financial activities, of 22.93%, which increased by 21.06% compared to the previous year and was higher than the peer group average of 17.6%. The current balance ratio achieved 65.96%, a 20.01% decrease from the previous year through efforts to reduce unnecessary personnel and operating expenses, earning particularly high marks in the financial soundness category.
Additionally, the ratio of unused budget funds decreased from 8.74% in the previous year to 6.02%, which is lower than the peer group average of 8.18%, and was evaluated as excellent in the financial planning category among similar local governments.
