Discussion on Water Environment Policy and Research Status in Busan Region
The Busan Green Environment Support Center at Pukyong National University (Director Lee Tae-yoon) held the "Busan Water Environment Workshop" on the afternoon of the 18th at the Convention Hall on the 4th floor of the Miraegwan Building.

View original imageThis workshop, aimed at discussing water environment policies and research trends in the Busan area, as well as the progress of water environment infrastructure projects and exploring future development directions, was jointly hosted by the Busan Green Environment Support Center along with local environmental societies including the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam Branch of the Korean Society of Environmental Engineers, the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam Branch of the Korean Water and Wastewater Works Association, and the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam Branch of the Korean Society of Waste Management and Resource Circulation.
The event began with congratulatory remarks from Pukyong National University President Jang Young-soo and Nakdong River Basin Environmental Office Chief Choi Jong-won, followed by a presentation on the "Comprehensive Water Management Plan for the Nakdong River Basin" by Nam Kwang-hee, Chairman of the Nakdong River Basin Water Management Committee, in the field of water environment policy. This was followed by a research presentation on water environment by Professor Park Sang-hoon (Environmental Engineering) of Pukyong National University titled "Low-Energy Desalination Technology Research."
Subsequently, Dr. Kim Do-hwan from the Busan City Waterworks Headquarters presented on "Smart Water Supply Network Management Measures," and Professor Lee Tae-ho (Environmental Engineering) of Pusan National University gave a presentation on "Anammox Process Demonstration Research." These presentations introduced the current status of Busan's water environment infrastructure projects, attracting significant interest from environmental experts.
Following the presentations, environmental industry companies such as Ecobit Water, EMC, and Han Jong Industrial Development participated, providing company introductions and promoting recruitment of environmental talents, which received enthusiastic responses from university students in related fields attending the event.

Lee Tae-yoon, Director of the Busan Green Environment Support Center, stated, "Through this workshop focused on the water environment, which is one of the most pressing environmental issues in Busan, not only local experts but also environmental industry companies and specialized university students were able to share and communicate the current status. We will continue to strive to make this a platform for cooperation among local societies and environmental industry companies."
