"Mobile Memory Prices to Rise 18-23% in Q1 Next Year... Smartphone Market Recovering"
TrendForce Raises Mobile Product Price Forecast
Omdia: "Signs of Smartphone Market Recovery Emerging"
As demand in the smartphone market gradually recovers, it is forecasted that prices for mobile DRAM and NAND flash could rise by 18-23% respectively in the first quarter of next year compared to the previous quarter.
On the 19th, market research firm TrendForce stated, "With a clear increase in memory prices, buyers are actively increasing purchases to maintain inventory at safe and competitive prices," and made this prediction.
Previously, TrendForce had anticipated that mobile DRAM prices would rise by 8-13% quarter-over-quarter. For mobile NAND products such as Universal Flash Storage (UFS) and embedded MultiMediaCard (eMMC), prices were expected to increase by 5-10% during the same period.
However, as inventory in the market decreases and memory suppliers reduce production, demand-side buyers are purchasing products more aggressively, leading TrendForce to revise its forecast, suggesting that the price increase could be larger than initially expected.
Next year, the upward trend in memory prices is expected to be more pronounced compared to other products. TrendForce predicted, "Customer demand will continue, but manufacturers are limiting increases in operating rates, thereby widening the gap between supply and demand."
