Cold Wave Warnings Nationwide... 107 Passenger Ships and 14 Flights Canceled
Due to nationwide heavy snowfall and cold waves, 107 passenger ships and 14 flights were canceled on the 16th.
The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSCH) announced that as of 6 p.m. that day, 107 passenger ships on 85 routes (including Incheon?Baengnyeong, Pohang?Ulleung, Jeju?Jindo, etc.) and 14 flights (4 from Gimpo, 10 from Jeju) were canceled.
National parks were also affected, with 247 sites across 13 parks, including 58 sites in Mudeungsan and 27 sites in Jirisan, being closed.
In the Chungcheong and Jeolla regions, a heavy snow warning has been issued, with 1 to 3 cm of snow falling mainly in the central region. Snowfall is expected to continue until tomorrow in Chungcheong, Jeolla, and Jeju areas.
Following the issuance of the heavy snow warning, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety activated Level 1 of the CDSCH at 10 a.m. that day and raised the heavy snow crisis alert level from 'Interest' to 'Caution.'
