High School Rapper Yoon Byung-ho... '7 Years Imprisonment' Confirmed "Drug Use During Trial"
Long-Term Use of Various Drugs Including Fentanyl and Philopon
Rapper Yoon Byung-ho (23, stage name Bulli Da Bastard), who was prosecuted on charges of drug use, has been sentenced to 7 years in prison. Yoon gained popularity by appearing on audition programs such as ‘High School Rapper’ and ‘Show Me the Money’.
According to the legal community on the 15th, the Supreme Court’s 1st Division (Presiding Justice No Tae-ak) confirmed the original sentence of 7 years imprisonment for Yoon, who was indicted on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act (psychotropic substances and marijuana) and special injury, the day before.
Yoon was arrested last July at his home in Gyeyang-gu, Incheon, for using methamphetamine and other drugs with friends. As a result, in the first trial in February, he was sentenced to 4 years in prison, ordered to complete 40 hours of drug addiction rehabilitation education, and fined 1,635,000 KRW.
Separately from this case, Yoon was also indicted for purchasing fentanyl from November 2019 to April 2020 and attempting to purchase methamphetamine in June last year, for which he was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison.
The appellate court merged the two cases and, after reviewing them, ordered 7 years imprisonment, 40 hours of drug addiction rehabilitation education, and a fine of 5,710,000 KRW.
The court at the time stated the sentencing reasons, saying, “Drug crimes pose a high risk to public safety and cause significant social harm, yet Yoon purchased, inhaled, and used various drugs over a long period.” It added, “Considering the circumstances and details of the crime, strict punishment is necessary.” The court also pointed out, “Even during the trial, he did not refrain but repeatedly purchased and inhaled methamphetamine, showing poor criminal attitude.”
Yoon appealed, but the Supreme Court dismissed the appeal, stating there was no error in the conclusion of the original judgment.
Meanwhile, Yoon was born in 2000 and became known through audition programs such as Mnet’s ‘High School Rapper’ and ‘Show Me the Money.’
In November 2020, he stirred controversy by revealing on his personal SNS that “I used LSD, ecstasy, cocaine, and others since middle school,” and “The sudden fame was very confusing, and I hurt those around me while using drugs.”
In October 2021, he appeared on a YouTube channel and delivered a message about the dangers of drug addiction, saying, “Rappers bear the greatest responsibility for the drug-related incidents in the news. When rappers talk about drugs in their lyrics, it has a huge influence on teenagers. They glamorize drug addiction so confidently and stylishly.”
Also, in December of the same year, he appeared on KBS1’s current affairs and educational program ‘Sisa Jikgyeok,’ showing the withdrawal symptoms he experienced while quitting drugs without filtering, raising public awareness.
