Dong-Eui University Wins 2 Gold and 1 Bronze at the 2023 Jeju Cup International Judo Tournament

The Dong-Eui University Judo Team (Coach Hwang In-Soo) performed well at the '2023 Jeju Cup International Judo Tournament' held at Jeju Halla Gymnasium from the 11th to the 13th, winning 2 gold medals and 1 bronze medal.

In the men's university division -81kg category, Lee Da-Woon, a second-year student in the Department of Physical Education at Dong-Eui University, defeated Kim Dae-Sung from Cheongju University by ippon in the semifinals, and showcased his best skills by winning with a back sweep ippon against Park Jun-Hyun from Yong-In University in the finals, earning the gold medal.

Next, in the -90kg category, Byun Sung-Wook, a first-year student in the Department of Leisure Sports at Dong-Eui University, added another gold medal by winning the final against Choi Seung-Il from Sehan University with a half-point victory using a counterattack after a pulling throw.

Additionally, Dong-Eui University’s Kim Su-Hyun, a first-year student competing in the -73kg category, earned a bronze medal after narrowly losing by pinning ippon to Kim Eo-Jin from Korea National Sport University in the semifinals.

Coach Hwang In-Soo of the Dong-Eui University Judo Team said, “Following our victories at the 2nd Yangpyeong Mongyang Cup National Judo Tournament and the 2023 Autumn National Men’s and Women’s University Judo Federation Team Championship, our first- and second-year students have achieved excellent results at this final tournament of the year. We expect even better performances next year. In January, we will undergo winter training at the Donghae Gymnasium in Gangwon Province to become a prestigious and top-tier judo team at Dong-Eui University.”
