Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital Awarded Gold Medal of Merit by Korean Red Cross Members
Recognition for Contributions to the Promotion of Human Welfare through the Spirit of Love and Service
Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital has been recognized for its contribution to the promotion of human welfare through the spirit of love and service.
Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital announced on the 15th that it received the Gold Medal of Merit from the Korean Red Cross.
The Korean Red Cross Medal of Merit is awarded to individuals and organizations that have actively contributed to fundraising for relief projects and social service, as well as blood donation campaigns.
In March, Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital signed a business agreement with the Korean Red Cross to support social welfare, and has been carrying out various support projects such as the Hope Windmill Project for vulnerable patients in medical blind spots and blood donation campaigns. In April, to commemorate its 19th anniversary, the hospital donated 2 tons of "Rice of Love" to the Korean Red Cross.
Additionally, to help stabilize blood supply and promote a voluntary blood donation culture, the hospital’s executives and staff have actively participated twice a year in the "Love Blood Donation Campaign" since 2007.
Since 2009, the hospital has also planned and conducted sharing campaigns with the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation, encouraging executives and staff to participate in regular sponsorships through the "One Meal Sharing" initiative. Together with Beautiful Store, they operate the "Beautiful Sharing Culture Market" to lead easy and enjoyable donations, supporting low-income patients.
In particular, the hospital was recognized for leading a culture of sharing in the community through rural online medical volunteer work, visiting medical services, and overseas medical volunteer activities, receiving the Minister of Health and Welfare Award at the "2022 Korea Sharing National Awards."
Fulfilling its role as a regional public medical institution, Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital is conducting various campaigns including the Gwangju Christian Council’s "Sharing Briquettes of Love," the Catholic Archdiocese of Gwangju’s "Sharing Kimchi of Love," "Meal Support for the Homeless," World Share Myanmar Refugee "Life-Hope Sharing," Healing Guatemala "Medical Equipment Donation," and World Vision’s "Support Campaign for Children Aging Out of Care."
Furthermore, the hospital is leading social contribution activities to help marginalized neighbors and local communities, such as the "Medical Expense Support Project" for pediatric patients in Guatemala and foreign patients from Uzbekistan.
