Dongshin University President Lee Joo-hee Shares Qualities of Female Leaders with Juniors
"I hope our juniors live as proactive women."
Lee Joo-hee, president of Dongshin University, had a meaningful time advising her alma mater juniors on the roles and qualities that female leaders should possess.
On the 12th at 3 p.m., President Lee gave a lecture titled "The Role and Qualities of Female Leaders Who Will Lead the World" at Deokcheon Hall of Donga Girls' High School in Nam-gu, Gwangju.
As the second graduating class of Donga Girls' High School, President Lee stood before about 400 juniors as a special guest speaker commemorating the 40th anniversary of the school's founding.
She asked her juniors, "What kind of woman do you want to be?" and emphasized that if they want to become female leaders, "self-directedness" is essential to develop leadership.
She explained, "With the advent of super-large artificial intelligence (AI), past hierarchies have disappeared, and it has become difficult to predict the future to the extent that benchmarking is impossible. In this paradigm shift, the key keywords for female leaders are to not lose 'being oneself' and 'uniqueness.'"
She added, "For a proactive life, the attitude of focusing on 'being oneself' more than average standards and making efforts is most important."
As the attitude of next-generation leaders, she cited ▲serving and caring ▲expertise ▲future planning ▲self-management, and gave heartfelt advice to her juniors such as "Physical strength is the most important," "To last long, you must cherish friends," "Objective self-reflection is necessary," "Choose the path of growth with a long-term perspective," "Live as a unique individual," and "Women and men are not different."
President Lee also spoke about the importance of relationships.
She said, "The school where I am now is the best school, the friend beside me is the best friend, and the teacher in front of me is the best teacher," adding, "The present moment is the most important. Therefore, you must cherish encounters with people and various opportunities."
She concluded her lecture with encouraging words, hoping "our juniors create 'being oneself' and 'uniqueness' and become people with fragrance and color."
