Pukyong National University Holds Graduation Ceremony for Global Master's Program 'International Fisheries Science Cooperative Program'

View original imageOn this day, 15 students from 11 countries around the world, including Africa and Asia, completed all courses in aquaculture, seafood processing and food safety, fisheries and resource management, fisheries management and policy since September 2022, and received a master's degree in fisheries science.
The International Fisheries Science Cooperation Program, offered by the Graduate School of Global Fisheries at Pukyong National University, is a master's degree program supported by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to transfer Korea's advanced fisheries technology to public officials, professors, researchers, and others holding bachelor's degrees from KOICA partner countries to support economic development.
The program operates to transfer Korea's accumulated experience in the fisheries sector, which played a key role in the country's economic growth, to developing countries, strengthen networks in the fisheries field, and contribute to the sustainable development of global fisheries.
Since starting the operation of the International Fisheries Science Cooperation Program in 2010, Pukyong National University has produced 219 master's graduates in fisheries science from 46 countries, including 15 this year.
Through this program, they have published over 130 papers in domestic and international academic journals, and after returning to their home countries, have contributed to fisheries development by developing more than 130 fisheries projects and promoting policies. They also actively serve as prominent pro-Korean figures, greatly aiding cooperation between their countries and Korea.
