In particular, Gwangyang Corporate Citizen Friends consistently conduct volunteer activities for vulnerable groups in Gwangyang City every year at the end of the year, and last year also held the ‘Happiness (幸福) Rice (米) · Blanket Sharing Event.’
On this day, Kim Myunghoon, head of the Gwangyang Corporate Citizen Friends volunteer group (CEO of Gwangyang Co., Ltd.), said, “Although the economic recession continues, we hope Corporate Citizen Friends can help low-income and vulnerable groups in the Gwangyang area have a warm year-end.” He added, “We are happy and proud to be able to help neighbors in need within the community year after year.”
Choi Jungwon, CEO of Samsung Flex Co., Ltd., said, “We sought out those in need in the community amid the triple hardships of high inflation, low growth, and winter cold waves. We hope the support and comfort from our Corporate Citizen Friends will be delivered to children and people with disabilities like the warmth of a cozy blanket,” expressing his thoughts on sharing.
Kim Jaewon, team leader of the Gwangyang City Love Sharing Welfare Foundation, said, “We are always grateful that POSCO Corporate Citizen Friends extend a warm hand to vulnerable groups in the community and within the welfare foundation around this time every year.” He added, “We will ensure the essentials are well delivered to neighbors in need living in welfare institutions in the district,” expressing gratitude for the donation of daily necessities.
Meanwhile, POSCO Corporate Citizen Friends are also leading various social contribution activities by addressing local community issues.
The Corporate Citizen Friends’ “Friends New Home” project supports housing-vulnerable groups by sponsoring Korea Habitat’s ‘Building Hope Houses.’ With a completion ceremony scheduled for the 20th, 10 vulnerable households, including multicultural families and descendants of independence activists, are expected to move in.
Also, the “Good Prepayment” event, which started in 2020, is held before the Chuseok holiday at traditional market stores such as Gwangyang Jungma Market. It involves prepaying a certain amount and transferring the usage rights to vulnerable groups in the community, receiving great responses from local small business owners and disadvantaged neighbors.
