Nexon Expands Open API Ecosystem... Supports External Creators

Nexon announced on the 15th that it has renewed and reopened its ‘Nexon Open API,’ which allows external use of its major game data.

The Nexon Open API is a platform that provides in-game data such as user information, match and ranking records. Users can utilize the publicly available Nexon game data to develop creative services.

Nexon renamed the ‘Nexon Developer Center,’ which had been operated since 2019, to ‘Nexon Open API’ and significantly expanded the number of games provided from 4 to 13. The games available for data utilization through this renewal include ‘MapleStory,’ ‘FC Online,’ ‘Dungeon & Fighter,’ ‘Cyphers,’ ‘Mabinogi Heroes,’ ‘MapleStory M,’ ‘Baram-ui Nara,’ ‘Baram-ui Nara: Yeon,’ ‘KartRider Rush+,’ ‘Crazy Arcade,’ ‘Prasia Jeongi,’ ‘HIT2,’ and ‘V4.’

The range of data provided has also been expanded by subdividing the types of data according to each game’s genre and characteristics. In particular, ‘MapleStory,’ which previously only provided cube probability information, plans to conduct a large-scale update during the winter vacation period reflecting user requests. ‘Crazy Arcade’ will also update additional data related to equipped items.

The UI (User Interface) and UX (User Experience) have been completely improved to allow users easier access to the data. Nexon plans to provide more data based on user feedback going forward.

Meanwhile, Nexon supports the promotion of web and application services developed through the Nexon Open API. It also plans to support the establishment of an open market to assist external creators and contribute to the expansion of the Nexon game ecosystem.

Park Noseong, Head of the Integrated Interface Office at Nexon Intelligence Labs, stated, “We will carefully consider what game data is truly needed through sufficient communication with users and provide it in the optimal way. We will also actively support follow-up efforts so that many services for users can be developed using Nexon’s Open API.”
