Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) Youth Counseling and Welfare Center has been selected as the Best Institution for the second consecutive time in the 2023 comprehensive evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family.
The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family conducts a comprehensive evaluation every three years on youth counseling and welfare centers nationwide, assessing four areas: ▲Crisis Youth Support Infrastructure ▲Project Infrastructure ▲Operational Performance ▲Operational Cases, selecting the top 25 centers as Best Institutions.
Mapo-gu Youth Counseling and Welfare Center (Director Ahn Hyun-jin) received excellent evaluations across all four indicators this year as well, earning the honor of being selected as the Best Institution at the '2023 Youth Counseling and Welfare Project and Peer Counseling Project Performance Report Conference' held at the Korea Press Center International Conference Hall on the 30th of last month.
In particular, the center’s outreach counseling booth for youth involved in the socially sensitive ‘Menhera’ (a Japanese neologism referring to people who appear to have poor mental health) culture near Exit 6 of Hongdaeipgu Station on the Gyeongui Line Book Street recently earned the ‘2023 Youth Safety Net Excellent Institution’ Seoul Mayor’s Commendation and the ‘Mentoring Program Minister of Health and Welfare Award,’ among other honors, reflecting the warm results of active efforts for local youth.
Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, “I deeply thank the Mapo-gu Youth Counseling and Welfare Center for their efforts running directly on the ground for the youth of the region, who are the driving force of the future, and Mapo-gu will continue to provide generous support to create a safe and healthy youth culture.”
