Damyang-gun Wins Grand Prize for 3 Consecutive Years in Carbon Neutral Tree Planting Evaluation Hosted by Jeonnam Province
Achieving Over One Million Tree Plantings to Realize a Green Garden City
On the 14th, Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it has achieved the remarkable feat of winning the grand prize for three consecutive years in the 2023 Carbon Neutral Tree Planting Evaluation hosted by Jeollanam-do.
The Carbon Neutral Tree Planting Evaluation assessed 22 cities and counties within the province across three areas and nine indicators related to tree planting achievements, forest creation participation, operation and management of the Forests of Jeonnam Council, post-forest management, and private sector participation.
Damyang-gun was selected as an excellent institution for three consecutive years, once again proving itself as a leading local government in realizing a green garden city.
In particular, it received high marks for actively creating green living spaces in urban areas, showing significant contributions in Arbor Day events participated in with residents, flower planting cases, and post-forest creation management.
Moreover, by planting approximately one million trees, it not only greatly contributed to carbon neutrality but also revitalized urban ecosystem functions and improved residents' quality of life, earning favorable evaluations.
